在日常生活中，當一個人看見另一個人微笑時會不自覺地隨之微笑;當一個人哭泣的時候，周圍的人也會感到難過甚至跟著痛哭，這就是因為鏡像神經元的作用。維也納醫(yī)科大學腦研究中心的科研人員說，鏡像神經元就像一面鏡子，會將外部影像投射到大腦中，讓人們領會到其他人的感受，產生“感同身受”的效果。
當人們觀察到的場景與自身的過往經歷越相似，鏡像神經元就越活躍，尤其是當這些場景與運動神經的活動相關的時候。所以，球迷往往會有下意識的“從眾”行為：球隊贏了就集體狂歡，輸了就集體哭泣。
此外研究人員還發(fā)現，對那些“真球迷”而言，鏡像神經元還有助于他們更好地“讀懂”球賽。對比實驗顯示，在觀賽的時候，那些“真球迷”能夠更好地預測球路走向，此時，他們的鏡像神經元比那些“偽球迷”更活躍。
維也納醫(yī)科大學腦研究中心的奧梅拉·瓦倫蒂說：“鏡像神經元能使我們憑直覺捕捉到其他人的意圖，而且我們可以根據過往的經驗更好地理解這些意圖或行為。”
研究人員說，對鏡像神經元的研究開始于30年前，如今還處于初步階段。深入研究鏡像神經元可以揭示人類社交互動和模仿學習的奧秘，比如，嬰兒學習成人的表情就是因為有鏡像神經元，而幼兒自閉癥可能與鏡像神經元功能失調有關，刺激鏡像神經元功能還將有助于中風偏癱病人恢復行動能力。
